OVERVIEW

MEGABOLISM
Vibe has become the atmosphere we move through, the quiet current that shapes how we read images, how we sense each other, how we navigate the noise of the present. It operates like a metabolism: absorbing, sorting, transforming. It registers before language does, guiding us through a world where everything feels accelerated, unstable, and saturated with signals.

This open call looks at vibe not as a trend but as a condition. It asks how artists respond to a time when intuition carries as much weight as argument, when atmosphere stands in for orientation, and when meaning often emerges from the tension between feeling and fact.

In this shifting terrain, vibe becomes a way of negotiating complexity, a tool for survival, and sometimes a veil. MEGABOLISM invites a closer look at this force that animates contemporary life, shaping culture, identity, and the collective pulse that holds us together.

INTENT

We are seeking photography, text, moving image, installation, and mixed-media works that explore how vibe operates today. How does atmosphere influence perception? What does it mean to sense before you understand? How do systems, emotions, and environments feed into one another, building the moods that guide our choices?

We welcome works that consider vibe as structure, as distortion, as intuition, as friction. Whether your practice is documentary or experimental, the work should reflect a thoughtful engagement with this condition, where the medium itself becomes part of the inquiry.

This overview is intended to provide context, not to limit your artistic expression. You may choose to focus on any single aspect of these themes/keywords.

Should the curators deem it necessary, you will be asked for additional text to contextualize your submission.

MISSION

MEGABOLISM turns toward the affective and systemic undercurrents of the present. This publication will gathers works that examine how we metabolize the world around us, how we interpret its signals, and how we build meaning through sensation as much as thought.

Rather than treating vibe as decoration or shorthand, we aim to open it up. To consider its power, its instability, and its consequences. By bringing together a range of perspectives, we hope to spark a collective reflection on how atmosphere shapes experience, how intuition can both reveal and obscure, and how creative practices respond to this fluid, uncertain terrain.
